Speech sound disorder is an umbrella term referring to any combination of difficulties with perception, motor production, and/or the phonological representation of speech sounds and speech segments that impact speech intelligibility. Speech sound disorders can be caused by motor-based disorders (apraxia and dysarthria), structurally based disorders and conditions (e.g., cleft palate and other craniofacial anomalies), syndrome/condition-related disorders (e.g., Down syndrome and metabolic conditions), and sensory-based conditions. Speech-language pathologists play an important role in the diagnosis, and treatment of persons with speech sound disorders.

In this course, you will explore evidence-based options on how to assess and treat different articulation errors, phonological processes as well as instruction for apraxia and dysarthria in children.

A language disorder represents a significant impairment in the acquisition and use of language across modalities (e.g., speech, sign language, or both) due to deficits in comprehension and/or production across any of the five language domains (i.e., phonology, morphology, syntax, semantics, pragmatics). Language disorders may persist across the lifespan, and symptoms may change over time. Speechlanguage pathologists play an important role in the diagnosis, and treatment of preschool and schoolage children with language disorders.

This course will provide an understanding of the management and assessment of pediatric language disorders. Students will be able to choose lectures and readings from renowned faculty of specialists who present the latest in research, outcomes, and treatment from a variety of perspectives. Topics will focus on interventions and management.

Fluency is the aspect of speech production that refers to continuity, smoothness, rate, and effort. Speech-language pathologists play an important role in the diagnosis, and treatment of fluency disorders in children. This course will provide an understanding of the management and assessment of fluency disorders. Autism spectrum disorder (ASD) is a neurodevelopmental disorder characterized by deficits in social communication and social interaction and the presence of restricted, repetitive behaviors. Speechlanguage pathologists play an important role in the diagnosis, and treatment of persons with ASD. This course will provide an understanding of the management and assessment of children with ASD. Students will be able to choose lectures and readings from renowned faculty of specialists who present the latest in research, outcomes, and treatment from a variety of perspectives.

This course will provide an understanding of the management and various therapy techniques available for speech language therapist working with children in variety of settings. Speech-language pathologists play an important role in coordinating with other team members in implementing the most appropriate and beneficial treatments for the pediatric population.

Feeding and swallowing disorders (also known as dysphagia) include difficulty with any step of the feeding process—from accepting foods and liquids into the mouth to the entry of food into the stomach and intestines. Speech-language pathologists play an important role in the diagnosis, and treatment of infants and children with swallowing and feeding disorders.

This course will provide an understanding of the management and assessment of feeding and swallowing disorders in children. This course will explore various clinical topics and professional issues that the current speech-language pathologist may encounter.
