Language disorders and differences, which have a significant impact on a student’s ability to communicate effectively, comprise the majority of communication disorders on a school-based SLP’s caseload. This course describes the assessment and management of pediatric language disorders as well as research evidence.

Pediatric speech sound disorders impact children’s intelligibility; they range from mild articulation disorders to more severe disorders such as childhood apraxia of speech. This course describes evidence-based assessment and intervention strategies for pediatric speech sound disorders.

SLPs provide services to children from preschool through adolescence with a variety of communication disorders that extend beyond speech and language difficulties. This course covers evidence-based assessment and intervention strategies specific to children in early intervention as well as those with autism spectrum disorders, social communication disorders, and pediatric brain injury.

SLPs provide services to children from preschool through adolescence with a variety of communication disorders, including children with hearing loss, feeding and swallowing issues, and voice disorders as well as those who stutter or have complex communication needs. This course covers evidence-based assessment, intervention strategies, and resources to enhance service delivery and outcomes for children in these populations.

Professional issues in speech-language pathology comprise the foundation and framework for practice and change over time. This course describes current professional issues for SLPs, including essential topics around ethics, supervision, counseling, and legal/regulatory compliance to support best practices, to ensure compliance with applicable laws and regulations, and to enhance their professionalism.
